Here's what I really wrote to the New York Times

Randy Cohen’s advice to the IT employee who discovered child porn on his company president’s computer (the advice – keep silent) is unconscionable. The employee should make sure he’s protected as a whistleblower and then call the police – they’ll figure out if the activity is illegal. That’s their job and it’s our job, as good citizens, to report suspected crime, especially when the victims are vulnerable and can’t protect themselves.
